Back in March, the mayor of Norwich, Connecticut, filed an appeal on the discontinuance of the post office in Yantic. It was the first such appeal since July 2013, and it is a significant appeal for other reasons as well. The post office was closed for an emergency suspension in 2012 for reasons that remain dubious, and the discontinuance procedure was conducted three years ago, so it is completely out of date. We wrote about the appeal case here. This week the PRC's Public Representative made many of the same points in her brief recommending that the Commission remand the case back to the Postal Service for further consideration. It will be interesting to see how the Commission rules on this one. The PR's comments are here.
