Last September, the Postal Service offered residents of Jekyll Island, Georgia, a choice between home delivery and a post office. As examined in a couple of articles by Mark Jamison for STPO, that choice didn't comply with the laws for closing post offices or postal regulations for ending home delivery. The community ended up keeping its post office and home delivery. Now the news is reporting that the Postal Service is looking for a new home for the post office, "and there wasn’t so much as a whisper at Monday’s Jekyll Island Authority board meeting Monday about stopping home delivery."
