Residents of New Canaan, Connecticut, have delivered their displeasure with the news that their post office will close by January, with the new location as yet undecided. The New Canaan post office has 6,260 square feet, which is not very big, but Christine Dugas, a spokesman for the USPS, said only 1,840 square feet would be needed in a new facility. Even though that sounds like an acknowledgement that the Postal Service wants to move to a smaller space, it still blames the move on a breakdown in the lease negotiations. Read more.
