The historic Burlingame, California, post office was sold earlier this month, and plans have been revealed for its future. The new owners, the Wang-Lu Family Revocable Trust., plans to build condominiums, retail and office space.
The U.S. Postal Service sold the property at 220 Park Road as part of a nationwide effort to downsize and cut costs. The agency will open a new, smaller location just a couple blocks away on Primrose Road within five months, said Postal Service spokesman James Wigdel.
The sale was finalized Sept. 5 but only recently disclosed. Neither the Postal Service nor the trust has revealed the sale price, but documentary transfer tax records filed with San Mateo County indicate the trust paid $15.7 million. Read more.
